Kicking off our monthly series, Community, we caught up with one of our regulars, Jason, for a chat about what Koha means to him.

Our last pop-up of the year and what a high to end it on. I’ve met some amazing, resilient, clever, beautiful people in our community over this last year which many have now become friends. Thanks for all the laughs, chats, hugs and most of all thanks for the privilege to be able to provide you with a basic human essential - clothing.

Thanks to everyone who came down to Crumb on Friday and celebrated our success and met Jesse. She has changed Koha for the better. Thanks to everyone who makes Koha what it is today, those who donate clothing, time and skills. Lets keep the good times rolling!!

With more than 10 years in the game, Renee Williams spends her time teaching clothes mending skills around Auckland through her company The Perfect Hour. She’s also an advocate for understanding the impact that fast fashion has on the environment and volunteers her time to Koha mending some of our donations. We caught up with Renee to talk about the creative Visible Mending movement, ways we can combat our clothing environmental footprint and how sewing quite literally runs in her jeans.

In celebration of Second Hand September we sat down with one of Koha’s seamstresses Mallory Mason, who has taken a needle to over 100 of our damaged donations, giving them a second chance at being loved. From her Auckland based home, we discuss her fine arts degree, how she first started volunteering her time to Koha and some of her recommendations for lowering our environmental footprint when it comes to clothing consumption.

We connected with Auckland local Gracie Taylor a while back when she had some clothing that she wanted to donate. Being a fangirl of her podcast @thegirlsuninterupted, I decided to asked her a few questions about responsibility and waste, community and why she chose to donate to Koha.
